- The Apple II has taken another step in becoming internet capable by
using the Contiki desktop environment system. While not yet fully
implemented, the project's website has an image of Contiki running on an
Apple II. More information about the project and the Apple II port of the
program can be found at: http://dunkels.com/adam/contiki/ports/

- Only 20 complete CompactFlash for Apple II cards remain for sale.
Developer Rich Dreher states that he has a few more with cosmetic problems
that he might offer for sale at a discount once the others are gone. He
also has stated that there probably will not be additional cards
manufactured once this supply is exhausted. More information including
ordering information can be found on the CFFA website:
http://spudboy.dreher.net/CFforAppleII

- Apple Computer wasn't the only company to make computers that ran Apple
II software - in fact hundreds of computer models, mostly from foreign
countries, were offered for sale. A new online pictorial museum showcases
these computers. Check it out at www.apple2clones.com

- Softdisk G-S published 82 issues of their disk-based magazine in their
heyday, and these issues are now available from Syndicomm on 3.5-inch
diskettes. For pricing and ordering information, visit their online store
at http://store.syndicomm.com/ .

- Apple II emulation continues its evolution with new software updates:

  - Kent Dickey has updated his program KEGS provides to enhance sound and
mouse usage. More information may be found at:
http://kegs.sourceforge.net/

  - Macintosh OS X users will be interested in Gerard Putter's update
version 2.6 of Virtual ][, a shareware emulator for the Apple II, II+, and
IIe. Information about the program and it's recent updates can be found
at: http://www.xs4all.nl/~gp/VirtualII/ .

- Programs for making your Apple II experience easier continue to be
updated:

-Andy McFadden and Faddensoft have released a new version of his
popular CiderPress software. This new release contains several minor
enhancements. For example, it can now handle some archives created by an
old version of ShrinkIt, and creates disk images which are identical to
Macintosh DiskCopy 4.2 images. More information can be found
at: http://www.faddensoft.com/index.htm .

  - IIGS game developers will be interested in Lucas Scharenbroich's new
demo of his Generic Tile Engine. Information and downloads can be found
at: http://iigs.dreamhost.com/gte/gte.html

- The Kfest committee has opened registration for Kfest 04. This
must-attend Apple II (and Mac) event will be held July 20-25th at Avila
University, in Kansas City. For more information, and to download a PDF
registration (or for contact information to have a form mailed to you), go
to http://www.kfest.org .

- It is our sad duty to report that one of the pillars of the Apple II
community, Gary Utter, passed away on March 4th. Gary was instrumental in
promoting the Apple II through the online communities, especially on
Genie, as part of the Syndicomm organization, as well as his continuing
support for Kfest. His knowledge and his humor will be greatly missed by
all who knew him.
